 TLISC – 2011 Environmental Scan

The 2011 Environmental Scan is now available for download on the TLISC website. The E‑scan provides contemporary and projected advice on the transport and logistics sectors, their workforce planning and development needs.  Coming back soon: Back 2 Basics!

Edition 4 of Training Packages @ Work’s popular Back 2 Basics publication will be released during March 2011. Look out for the FREE, but extremely valuable publication on the Training Packages @ Work website. Back 2 Basics is an easy-to-read guide that simplifies the vocational education and training (VET) system. It provides a starting point to help VET practitioners navigate a path through a maze of organisations, policies, and programs.

Quality improvement

Following up learning and development programs accounts for 50 percent of behavioural change. The actual delivery of a training program accounts for 40 percent of behavioural change with the remaining 10 percent resting with pre-course work.

Upskilling of Australia needed

There is an ongoing need for RTO’s to deliver a quality service to meet the scale of the challenge confronting Australia. The workforce participation rate will need to rise from 65% to 69% by 2025 and the skills of the workforce must rise to accommodate changes in the economy. Australia needs to increase the percentage of the population with high level skills, and in particular, the level of the population with foundation skills and adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills.
