Skills Australia have released five Youtube videos in answer to questions put to presenters at the “Putting skills at the heart of the economy 2011” conference held in July. I have included them for your reference as the responses are interesting and could assist you with your RTO development.

The videos are separate so look for the following to out information relevant to your RTO.

Chris Richardson  Director, Deloitte Access Economics
Answers: “The continuing resources boom and the so called three-speed economy are screaming out for labour flexibility – there’s only so much that the VET sector can do in the current environment – surely this spells a new approach is needed from employers?”

Peter Tighe,  Chairman  ElectroComms and Energy Utilities Industry Skills Council Ltd
Answers: “Aren’t some of the skill shortage problems really problems about poor pay and low status making some jobs unattractive and therefore hard to fill? How should this be addressed?”

Annie Koh,  Associate Professor of Finance  Dean, Office of Executive & Professional Education  Singapore Management University
Answers: “What can employers do to take on new entrants to the labour market?”

and Michael Pascoe,  Contributing Editor, Fairfax Media  Finance and Economic Commentator
