Seeing your RTO dreams, inspiration and intentions.

Looking around my house over the break, and now in my office I see something pretty typical.

Stacks, and stacks, of books.

I have a huge bookcase over my desk. And stacks of books on my desk. Then in my house, there are books beside my bed, on the floor next to the bed, in the “library” as well as in the house office. Oh of course… and then there is the book I always seem to have in my bag.

I love books. I don’t understand how people can buy e-books, there is something very special about having a book in my hands, being able to highlight text – if it is one I need to refer to again, or simply caring for I book of knowledge. Interestingly they seems to be all books providing me with new inspired knowledge, or confirming my existing knowledge. The ones that go against my grain, don’t last long in my presence. They inspire me, they give me hope and they provide me direction for my course of actions.

Then of course when I am near a computer, or my iPad, there is the endless source of inspiration online; social streams, Ted Talks, blogs, news articles. If I look around, I find inspiration everywhere! I have realized that my love of books, gorgeous picture magazines, newspapers, music, movies, art and videos connects back to my love of learning and being inspired by people, stories and ideas.

For 18 months I had an “intention buddy” or “accountability buddy”; someone who we shared our daily intention to every morning, and someone who held me accountable if I didn’t achieve that intention. This inspired me.

By setting an intention, you make it clear to yourself and others, just what you plan to do. Set an intention to redefine what it means to be serious about your dreams.

Oh and if you plan on starting your own intention strategy, here are some tips…

Intentional Steps:
1. Get clear about something you want and write it down.

2. Share your intention with someone in a way that will supportively hold you accountable to taking action.

3. Do something today to demonstrate your commitment to your intention.

4. Acknowledge that you did what you said you would and then, take the next step.
