NSSC – release their new framework.

As per the information earlier this week, the NSSC have released their framework.

Remember, the Framework will provide the basis upon which draft regulatory standards are developed. Here is some of what they have to say….

Greater confidence in training outcomes and integrity of vocational qualifications

  • Providers will be licensed to issue nationally recognised vocational qualifications that have value and integrity, and are critical to Australia’s economic and social future.
  • Increased focus on the core business of a provider – quality training and assessment leading to the issuance of vocational qualifications – with stronger linkages to Training Packages and Accredited Courses.
  • Supports COAG’s transparency agenda and other related reforms, allowing users to navigate the system more effectively.

New regulatory model – reduced unnecessary regulatory effort

  • Shifting the onus of responsibility for quality training and assessment onto providers and, more specifically, individuals (i.e. the Accountable Education Officer)
  • Encourages self-management of quality – significantly reducing the regulatory burden for high-performing providers
  • National consistency through stronger, clearer, single set of standards applied to all providers and regulators across Australia

The NSSC is conscious of the impact of the proposed changes on the sector and will be developing a detailed approach to implementation and transition to mitigate against any potential unintended consequences, especially for niche and/or specialised providers.
