Do you really have what it takes to become financially free?

I was sitting in the airport lounge early one morning waiting for my flight, sitting next to some fly in fly out workers. They were not traveling as a group, however did know one another. So as I tried to concentrate on other matters, the conversation near me turned to the cutting of resources and how it has been effecting each individual. The staff members were aghast that they now had to work harder and get less help. They decided the best action to take was to reduce their own work output.

As someone who has their own business and is always looking at ways to move forward I found this attitude very disheartening. I also started to reflect on how those individuals could be feeling inside; my take on their world was they were probably feeling very empty.

The articles and books I read and pod casts I listen to tell me that most people like to be employed, they like the security of having a regular wage, and knowing they have something to fill their time week after week. This is convention. Yet I hear them complaining and becoming less and less productive, and never achieving their dreams.

For me life isn’t about being conventional. Achieving my dreams is my priority, and that means being able to stretch myself, to embrace my marketplace and to be as authentic as possible. It is about being independent.

The road however is not always easy. People who go out into their own business realise very quickly that you are not supported by the system of convention. All it will ever do is seek to protect itself and maintain the status quo.

If you want to be wealthy, and start your own RTO business then you really do have to step outside what the conventional system has to offer. If you sat down and created a list of every reason you could think of as to why you are not already wealthy your list might look something like, lack of knowledge, fear of change, lack of self-belief, ineffective spending habits, ineffective advice and guidance, lack of role models, lack of courage to resign from the day-to-day grind of being employed, lack of time, lack of motivation, lack of belief that it can be done, lack of courage to try.

Your task is to become educated and skilled; if you want to be financially free.

Setting up your own RTO is about learning. Learning about you, learning about the standards, and learning about your employees. This requires a lot of work on your part, as there are no short cuts. Sure you can listen to the people who are employed, but as I already said, are they the ones who understand about being independent? Or are they being conventional, and perhaps even taking time out from their employer, even though they front up to work every day.

For your RTO success you need to be able to trust your intuition and find a mentor, someone you are comfortable with and someone you trust. Research the people who you plan to connect with and make sure you listen to your gut. If something deep within you makes you shift in your seat, trust your gut feelings and do not go any further. If there is lots of hype, sexy strategies and the use of truckloads of acronyms, steer clear. But do not give up the search because there are genuine people willing to share their knowledge. This has been my strategy and it has helped me to gain clarity throughout my time in business.

Do not despair,  people before you have also had similar thoughts, lack of self-esteem, and abundance of limiting beliefs. We could go on and on and create pages and pages of reasons that stop us from moving forward. The truth is, the time is never right, and you need to take the first step. I have learned from many years of self-discovery that It is far easier to criticise than to take 100% responsibility. People love to blame, yet the reality is, they didn’t take responsibility for their own actions, or inactions.

You are born into this world with 100% potential to be wealthy, and you depart this world having had 100% potential to be wealthy. It is what you do in between these two events that determines whether you achieve or surrender your potential to wealth. Wealth belongs to you, not just to the few who achieve it. Wealth comes to those who take the steps. The steps to their own journey and RTO Success.

Before you start your RTO journey consider the options of going it alone, or working with someone who you respect and will listen to as your mentor.
